Tuesday marked Mathieu's second appearance at the Olympic Games as he earned a silver medal in 2008 as a member of the Bahamian 4x400 relay team alongside former Red Raider Andrae Williams.

Mathieu was a three-time All-American during his Red Raider career which spanned from 2005-06.

Brathwaite entered the Olympics fresh off of his senior campaign at Texas Tech this spring in which he earned first team All-American honors at the 2012 NCAA Outdoor Championships. There, he finished seventh overall in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 13.93.

Brathwaite recorded a personal-best time of 13.31 shortly after ending his senior campaign at Tech at the North American, Central American and Caribbean Under-23 Championships where he captured gold.
