Polk to Compete at IAAF World Championships Saturday

LUBBOCK, Texas - Former Lady Raider Tori Polk is set to represent Team USA this weekend at the IAAF World Championships in Moscow.

Polk, who qualified for Team USA in June, is scheduled to compete at 10:20 a.m. (CST) in the qualifying round of the women's long jump.

The former Lady Raider went a career-best 6.80-meters (22-feet 3.75 inches) to finish second at the U.S. Track and Field Championships in Des Moines. She holds the current Texas Tech indoor long jump record of 6.47-meters (21' 2.75"), and was a 2005 All-American in the long jump.

The top-12 finishers Saturday or any athlete who hits the automatic qualifying mark of 6.75-meters (22' 1.50") advance to the IAAF World Championship finals scheduled for Sunday.
