Red Raider Squads Sweep Top Spots|

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech cross country squads did not disappoint at their home meet as both the women's and men's teams took first at the Red Raider Jackrabbit Open. Seven women and four men clocked top-10 times.
In the women's three mile race, freshman Sally Kipyego took the top honor with a time of 15:55.31. Senior Red Raider Irene Kimaiyo finished in third place, clocking 16:49.08. Violet Chemakwila and Asia Diaz finished four and five with times of 17:05.20 and 17:43.55 respectively. Finishing out the top 10 for the Red Raiders were Gladys Kipsang in seventh with 17:52.75, Molly Evans in eighth running 17:53.59 and Jessica Stovall in 10th with a time of 18:14.76.
The top finisher on the men's team for the Raiders was Kevin Chelimo in third place with a run of 24:19.27 in the men's 8K. Also in the top ten were Silas Kemboi and Edwin Sang who finished 5th and 6th with times of 24:54.95 and 25:05.62, respectively. Pedro Vargas took tenth place with a clocking of 26:11.96.
The women's team finished 72 points ahead of South Plains College to capture the team title. The men also topped South Plains by 11 points to take home a victory for the men's squad.
