LUBBOCK, Texas -The Texas Tech women's cross country team captured the team title, while the men's team finished eighth at today's Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Ark.

Junior Sally Kipyego added another win, by clocking a time of 19:49.2 to place her ahead of 322 other runners. Teammate Irene Kimaiyo followed in second with a 20:47.6 6K course time. The next set of Red Raiders were Gladys Kipsang and Asia Diaz, who finished in the seventh and 16th spots with times of 21:09.2 and 21:31.3, respectively.

The Tech men placed eighth out of 37 schools competing. Leading the Scarlet and Black pack was Silas Kemboi, who finished 15th overall with a time of 30:29.3. Following Kemboi, was Edwin Sang in 18th, clocking a time of 30:42.1.

The team will compete next in Lubbock, when the Red Raiders host the Big 12 Championships Fri., Oct. 26, at the Jerry S. Rawls Course on the campus of Texas Tech.
