No. 9 Lady Raiders Win Mountain Regional Championship

LUBBOCK, Texas - The No. 9 Texas Tech women's cross country team won its third-straight meet and its first Mountain Regional Championship behind Sally Kipyego's third consecutive Mountain Regional title.

Tech dominated the 6K course scoring 42 points beating the second place team New Mexico by 28 points. The win automatically qualifies the Lady Raiders for the NCAA Championships on Mon., Nov. 24th.

Kipyego won her third-straight Mountain Regional Championship in a time of 19:31.9 beating second place by 40 seconds. She now has the opportunity to win her third-straight NCAA Cross Country Championship.

Lillian Badaru finished behind Kipyego for the third-straight week. Her second place time was 20:12.3. Asia Diaz recorded her second-straight top 10 finish by placing sixth in a time of 20:49.8. Gladys Kipsang was the fourth Lady Raider to place in the top 10. She crossed the line in a time of 20:50.7 in eighth place.

Chep Boit was the fifth Lady Raider to cross the line as she ran a time of 21:22.0 in 25th. Michelle Guzman placed 42nd running a time of 21:40.6. Addison LeMaster finished in 59th running a time of 21:58.2.

The men's team finished its season in 13th place with 356 points. Colorado won the men's 10K race with 42 points.

Gilbert Limo led the Red Raiders with a time of 31:03.3 and placing 42nd. Logan Culotta ran a time of 32:26.1 to place 75th. Jake Szot crossed the line in 80th running a time of 32:40.3.

The next Red Raider was Nathan Milles as he finished in 87th in a time of 32:40.3. Zack Dawson recorded a time of 33:47.4 and placed 91st. Cory Higgins followed closely behind in 93rd running a time of 33:53.2. Aaron Greer was the last Red Raider as he ran a time of 34:00.5 to place 97th.



The Red Raiders returns everybody from this year's squad.

The NCAA Cross Country Championships will be held at Terre Haute, Ind., on Mon., Nov 24th.
