LUBBOCK, Texas - The Big 12 Conference honored a total of 31 Texas Tech student-athletes on the 2013-14 Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team, as announced by the league office on Thursday.
Others honored were: Matthew Broadbent (Baseball), Dylan Dusek (Baseball), Ryan Long (Baseball), Ryan Moseley (Baseball), Dylan Cantrell (Football), Justis Nelson (Football), Hannes Roenneblad (Men's Golf), Madelyn Crabtree (Soccer), Alyssa Jacobs (Soccer), Madison McAdams (Soccer), Meagan McCullough (Soccer), Kendyl Pirkey (Soccer), Stephanie Sorrells (Soccer), Ashley Fultz (Softball), Brittany Lee (Softball), Kierra Miles (Softball), Brittany Warnecke (Softball), Jolan Cailleau (Men's Tennis), Lynn Kiro (Women's Tennis), Nick Melott (Men's Tennis), Beatriz Santos (Women's Tennis), Jocelyn Caro (Track & Field), Viershanie Latham (Track & Field), Alexandrea Morgan (Track & Field), Paetyn Revell (Track & Field), Katherine Timmons (Track & Field), Blake Wood (Track & Field) and Kathryn Daffer (Volleyball).
Texas finished atop the breakdown of honorees with 71 followed by Oklahoma with 69, Baylor and Kansas with 50, respectively.
Nominated by each institution's director of student-athlete support services, student-athletes on the Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team must be new, first-time/incoming freshman that have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial coursework and achieved a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00. Additionally, the student-athlete must have participated in at least one of their team's scheduled contests and must have been a member of their respective team for their sport's entire NCAA Championship segment.
