Cross Country Opens Season in New Mexico|
Three-time Big 12 Coach of the Year Jon Murray enters his eighth season with Texas Tech.

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech cross country team will open its 2012 season Friday at the Texas Tech Open meet in Ruidoso, New Mexico.
Under the direction of eighth-year head coach Jon Murray the Red Raiders will compete with Wayland Baptist in the season opening meet. The meet is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. (MT).
"This will serve as a great training meet for our team to begin the season," Murray said. "We have a lot of talented newcomers who will have the chance to compete in their first college meet and this is a great meet to begin their careers at."
The Red Raiders and Lady Raiders enter the season with 18 newcomers to the roster.
Texas Tech will return to Lubbock to host the Texas Tech Red Raider Open on Sept. 14.
