Sally Kipyego, a junior All-American, was honored today as the Big 12 Runner of the Week for the week of Sept. 24-30. The Tech runner was honored after setting a course record in last weekend's Paul Short Invite.

Kipyego contributed to the team's win by setting a course time of 19:59, which clocked a course record and a first-place finish against 316 runners competing in the race.

Kipyego now boasts three conference runner of the week awards. On the 2007 season, she has already achieved conference recognition in two meets placing first in each and setting personal course records. She was first recognized for her performances in the Mike Boit Invitational, Sept. 6, and the Murray Keatinge Meet, Oct. 4, during her 2006 campaign.

Texas Tech will host the 2007 Big 12 Cross Country Championships Oct. 26 at the Jerry S. Rawls Course.
