Kithuka Earns Third Big 12 Weekly Honor|

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech senior Kennedy Kithuka was recognized by the Big 12 Conference Tuesday as the Red Raider cross country runner earned conference Runner of the Week honors for his performance at the annual Arkansas Chile Pepper Festival.
Kithuka has now been tabbed by the conference as the Runner of the Week three times this season and six times in his highly-decorated Texas Tech career. He finished first overall at the Chile Pepper Festival on Saturday in Fayetteville with a season-best time of 23:28.1 in the 8,000-meter race.
Pacing a race that featured two of the top-10 teams in the nation, Kithuka finished ahead of a pair of runners from No. 5 Arkansas to defend his meet title from 2012.
With the victory, Kithuka has now won four consecutive races to open the 2013 season and moved to a perfect 11-0 in his career.
The Red Raiders and Lady Raiders return to the course Oct. 19 at the NCAA Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, Ind.
