LUBBOCK, Texas - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced today the women's coaches and athletes of the year for nine Division I regions.

Representing the Mountain Region, Texas Tech's Sally Kipyego took the title for the second year in a row. The four-time NCAA individual champion in cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field, has been awarded as the Mountain Region Women's Athlete of the Year. Kipyego has won four NCAA titles in her collegiate career - 2006 cross country, 2007 indoor track (3,000 and 5,000 meters) and 2007 outdoor track (10,000 meters).

The undefeated junior has been crowned at every meet she has competed in this season, including wins at the Chile Pepper Festival, the Big 12 Championships and the NCAA Regionals. The Red Raider will defend her national title at Monday's national championships in Terre Haute, Ind.
