Hall of Fame Inductee: Brad Hastings
The 2011 Texas Tech Hall of Fame Induction Class.
Oct. 6, 2011
Brad Hastings, who passed away in 2009, was one of the premier linebackers in program history. Under head coaches Jerry Moore and David McWilliams, Hastings helped the Red Raiders overcome an eight-year bowl drought by reaching the Independence Bowl in 1986 during his senior season.
During his career, Hastings was known as an excellent run stopper, as he set the school record for single season tackles with 171 in 1985. The record held for 17 years. Hastings also led the Red Raiders in tackles during both the 1984 and 1986 seasons.
His efforts didn't go unrecognized outside the program either as he was a recognized to the All-Southwest Conference team three times, and was named a 3rd Team All-American during his prolific 1986 season.
Hastings, along with the rest of the 2011 Hall of Fame Induction Class will be honored at the Hall of Fame Banquet. The banquet is scheduled to be held on Friday, Oct. 7 at 6:00 in the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center Banquet Hall. The honorees will also be recognized prior to the Texas A&M football game the following day.
