Texas Tech Announces 1998 Baseball Schedule
LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech baseball team, along with head coach Larry Hays announced its 1998 baseball schedule on Thursday. The Red Raiders' season begins on Saturday, January 31st with the annual Texas Tech alumni exhibition game at Dan Law Field.
The Red Raiders will host 12 straight home games in March and travel to Big 12 Conference opponents Texas A&M, Oklahoma State, Kansas, Iowa State and Nebraska.
Big 12 Conference play begins for Tech on Friday, February 27 at Texas A&M.
Tech will also play in the Oakland A's Invitational in Phoenix, Ariz. from Feb. 19-22. The Raiders will play BYU, Nevada-Reno, UC-Santa Clara and Northwestern in the four-game collegiate tournament.
The Big 12 Conference Tournament will be held in Oklahoma City from May 14-17.
Head coach Larry Hays enters the season with a 1113-603-2 career record (372-208-1 at Tech) and guided the Red Raiders to a 46-14 record, third straight NCAA Regional appearance and inaugural Big 12 Conference regular season title last year. Tech won the Big 12 with a 23-7 conference record.
