Texas Tech Selected to Win Big 12 Conference

Baseball America Publication Chooses Tech as the Favorite

LUBBOCK, Texas - After winning the inaugural 1997 Big 12 Conference baseball championship last May, the Texas Tech Red Raiders were picked to repeat as champions in the league's second season in Baseball America's College Baseball Preview.

Baseball America also listed three Red Raiders as "Players to Watch." The three players included sophomore Freshman All America/1997 Big 12 Freshman of the Year catcher Josh Bard, junior Big 12 Second Team pitcher Monty Ward and senior second baseman/1997 All America Keith Ginter.

Baseball practice begins for Texas Tech on Thursday, January 8 at 10:00 a.m. at Dan Law Field. The second practice will be at 2:00 p.m. at Dan Law Field. That schedule depends on the weather. The Red Raiders will go through two-a-days until class begins.
