Mar. 16, 1997 Texas Tech Completes SweepLUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech starting pitcher Monty Ward worked six strong innings before turning the ball over to Brad Ralston, who came on to pitch three shutout innings as the Red Raiders completed a three-game sweep of Iowa State with a 6-4 victory. Ward gave up four runs, scattering nine hits while walking two and striking out six. The sophomore right-hander improved to 5-1 with the victory. Ralston, meanwhile, picked up his third save of the season. Jess Oliveras, Chris Shuffield and Brandon Toro all had two hits apiece for Texas Tech (18-2), which pounded out 11 hits. Toro also stole three bases, raising his total number of thefts this season to 12. The Red Raiders, who were coming off a doubleheader sweep of Iowa State (5-11), will next host College of Southwest on Tuesday, Mar. 18.
