Mar. 23, 1997 Texas Tech Races to 16-3 Win Over BaylorWACO, Texas - Left fielder Jason Landreth went 3-for-6 with a double, three RBI and three runs scored to lead Texas Tech to a 16-3 victory over host Baylor at Ferrell Field. Designated hitter Joe Dillon and catcher Brandon Buckley both homered, finishing with two hits and three RBI apiece for the Red Raiders (21-3). Dillon's homer was his 11th of the season. Shane Wright (5-0) came on in relief of starter Monty Ward to earn the victory for Texas Tech. Wright pitched scoreless ball for 6 2/3 innings, allowing just five hits while striking out four and walking no one. The Red Raiders, who pounded out 19 hits, scored three times in the first and four times in the second to take an early 7-0 lead. Baylor (16-10) closed to within 7-3 in the bottom of the third, but Texas Tech responded with a five-run fourth to take a commanding 12-3 lead.
