Head coach Larry Hays records his fifth 40-win season.

LUBBOCK, Texas - The No. 1 Texas Tech Raiders completed a three-game sweep of conference rival Nebraska today with a 8-6 victory in the regularly scheduled game. Tech also completed a game suspended by rain Tuesday, defeating Nebraska, 13-6.

In the bottom of the second inning of the regular game, Tech jumped ahead 4-0 with three runs. The Red Raiders held the Cornhuskers in the first six innings 7-0 before Nebraska staged a six-run comeback. The Cornhuskers, led by Gabe Garcia's two-run home run, brought the game within one. The six-run inning equals the biggest inning against the Red Raiders this season.

A home run by Keith Ginter sealed the win for Tech, giving the Red Raiders a two-run lead in the eighth. Ginter extended his hitting streak to 23 games, which is the longest by any Red Raider this year. Ginter also hit two home runs in the game today, giving him 15 homers for the season. Pitcher Shane Wright recorded the win, bringing his season record to a perfect 9-0.

Following the victory today, Tech became the first school in the Big 12 Conference to reach 40 overall wins and 20 league wins this season. This marks the fifth time in school history the Red Raiders have won 40 or more games in a season, all completed under head coach Larry Hays.

The Red Raiders played the final inning and a half of the Tuesday suspended game at 1:30 p.m. today. Last night, Tech led 11-6 prior to rain suspension. The Red Raiders scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth today to complete the 13-6 win. Pitcher David Therneau earned the win increasing his record to 5-0.

Texas Tech improved their record to 40-5 overall, 20-4 Big 12, while Nebraska's record moved to 22-28 overall, 4-17 Big 12. The Red raiders travel to Oklahoma for a three-game series this weekend. The Friday game begins at 7:00 p.m. in Norman, Okla.
