Red Raiders Give Up 11 in Ninth, Lose 19-17

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Ryan Upshaw belted a one-out grand slam in the bottom of the ninth to complete an 11-run inning as New Mexico State pulled out a stunning 19-17 victory over Texas Tech. Upshaw's game-winner was his second homer of the inning as he earlier drilled a three-run blast. He finished the inning with seven RBI.

Texas Tech (42-8) catcher Josh Bard went 4-for-6 with a double, home run, four RBI and two runs scored to lead the Red Raiders. Texas Tech second baseman Keith Ginter, who went 3-for-5, tied a school record by extending his hitting streak to 28 games.

Chris Rapp (1-0) worked a scoreless ninth to earn the win for New Mexico State (18-30). Jimmy Frush (4-3), who was one of four Texas Tech pitchers in the ninth, suffered the loss for the Red Raiders.
