Austry played first base last season for the Red Raiders. A native of Fort Worth and transfer from Coastal Carolina, Austry is in his final season as a Texas Tech baseball player. Austry hits for power and provides outstanding defense at first base. He considered Tech in his initial decision but decided to attend Coastal Carolina.

1999: Plattooned with David O'Keeffe at first base while seeing action vs. righthanders … hit .306 in February and .333 in April … went 2-4 with run and RBI vs. Oklahoma State … finished season with nine mult-hit games and 39 career mult-hit games … went 8-12 with four RBI and five runs in series vs. Iowa State including a 3-5 game and 3-4 game … went 3-4 with RBI and double vs. Texas A&M … hit home run to win game in top of ninth and went 2-5 with two RBI at Southern California … hit two doubles vs. Southwest Texas State and went 2-4 with three runs … registered season-high 15 putouts on 4/16/99 at Texas.
