Brewer's last season with the Red Raiders was 2002.

Brewer serves the Red Raiders as the team pitching coach and was a former pitcher for the Texas Tech in 1995 and 1996.

Brewer came to Texas Tech following a career in minor league baseball in which he played in the Kansas City Royals organization. He spent two season on the Texas Tech pitching staff in 1995 and 1996. During his two year career at Tech, the Red Raiders went 100-29 overall and claimed the 1995 Southwest Conference Championship. During the 1996 season, Brewer recorded 10 wins on the mound while racking up a .769 wining percentage. Following the 1996 season, he was rewarded by the Southwest Conference as a second-team All-SWC selection.

Last season, Brewer directed the Tech pitching staff to a final 4.24 ERA and had two players finish with more than 11 wins (Chris Phillips - 11; Brandon Roberson - 13).

He is married to the former Lacy Nye who was a standout volleyball player at Texas Tech from 1993-1996. Lacy is a teacher/volleyball coach at Coronado High School. The couple has one son, Noah.
