Started at Cerritos Community College in the Fall of 2000 after receiving a scholarship from head coach Ken Gaylord?Bruce helped lead his team to the first round of the state playoffs both years at Cerritos?he picked up honorable mention honors both years at Cerritos after hitting .320 as a freshman and .330 with 37 RBI and 28 stolen bases as a senior.
Played three seasons of varsity baseball and was on the varsity soccer team at St. John Bosco High School in Bellflower, Calif?.his baseball coach was Kris Jondle and his soccer coaches were Jim Cross and Pat Lee?his sophomore season his team went 15-12 but did not advance to the state playoffs?his junior season things began to turn around as he helped lead his team to a 18-9 record and a first-round appearance in the playoffs?as a junior he hit .450 with two home runs and 33 RBI?his senior season Bruce led his school to its first league title in nine years?he earned All-League Most Valuable Player honors both his junior and senior seasons and was a two-time Press-Telegram Dream Team pick?in 2000 Collegiate Baseball Magazine tabbed him as one of the best high school shortstops in the State of California.
Born on March 29, 1982 in Torrance, Calif?.his mother Teri Ramirez is a graduate of the University of La Verne while his stepfather David Ramirez is an environmental specialist?he has two younger siblings Brian age 17 and Kaitlyn age 13?his career goals are to play professional baseball or coach and teach?in his spare time he enjoys baseball, teaching at camps, hanging out with friends and snowboarding.
