Eiguren started 25 games last year as Texas Tech's designated hitter. He provided much-needed pop in the lineup as he hit seven home runs in 34 games. Eiguren transferred to Texas Tech from Alabama prior to the 1998 season. He signed a national letter of intent to play at Alabama for the 1997 season but midway through his first fall 1997 semester, decided to play elsewhere.
