Holzhauer emerged as Texas Tech's starting second baseman last year as a junior. The transfer from Long Beach J.C. provided .300+ hitting, outstanding defense and was a major reason for Texas Tech's No. 3 national ranking with a .971 fielding percentage. He completed the second-best fielding season for a second baseman in Texas Tech history.
