Lunsford contributed last season as Texas Tech's backup catcher and is the frontrunner to start this season. He transferred to Texas Tech last season after playing his freshman season at Grayson Junior College. He has been described as an outstanding defensive catcher with a rocket arm who is an asset behind the plate and can handle a pitching staff.
