Made just one appearance in the season opener before suffering a season-ending injury ... underwent surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff in March.

2006 Honors: Freshman Pitcher of the Year - Big 12 Coaches; Second Team All-Big 12 - Dallas Morning News; Honorable Mention All-Big 12 - Big 12 Coaches ... Freshman All-American ... led the Red Raiders on the mound in 2006 as he finished his first season with a 3.63 ERA in 106 2/3 innings of work ... his 103 strikeouts on the year rank him 10th on the single-season strikeout list at Texas Tech ... pitched three complete games and allowed just 31 walks and opponents hit .279 against him ... earned a win in his first career start against Louisiana-Monroe on Feb. 4 after allowing just one earned run on four hits over five innings. Followed up his first win with a no-decision against Tulane but recorded nine strikeouts ... nominated for Big 12 Pitcher of the Week after striking out a career-high 12 batters against Dallas Baptist in the first game of the Midland Classic ... his 12 strikeouts trumped his previous high of nine set against Tulane in the Houston College Classic ... suffered his first loss against Arizona State after giving up eight earned runs on 10 hits in 5 1/3 innings ... was a consensus National Pitcher of the Week honoree (Collegiate Baseball Magazine, NCBWA and RosenblattReport.com) on March 21st following a stellar performance against Texas on March 18 ... against the Longhorns, he set a new school record for the most strikeouts in a Big 12 game when he struck out 15 Texas hitters ... the 15 strikeouts were the most against a Texas team since the 1999 season ... he pitched the first complete game of his career and did not allow a single walk in the process ... his 15 strikeouts were the most by a Tech pitchers since Monty Ward struck out 18 against Lindenwood in 1998 ... A lack of run support cost Morgan his fifth win of the season in the series opener against Baylor ... he pitched his second complete game of the season with 11 strikeouts ... pitched his third consecutive complete game at Dan Law Field and snapped a three-game losing skid against Kansas State on April 13 ... held the Wildcats to just two runs on 11 hits and struck out eight ... A 2004 graduate of Coronado High School in Lubbock where he was a standout pitcher for Jimmy Webster's Mustangs ... helped lead the Mustangs to bi-district championships in 2003 and 2004 and a district championship in 2004 ... was a two-time All-District and Honorable Mention All-City selection ... his senior season he finished with a 4-4 overall record along with one save ... made 14 appearances and 11 starts while hurling five complete games ... tallied a 2.47 ERA along with 77 strikeouts and allowed just 31 walks.

Born on March 11, 1986, in Lubbock, Texas ... son of Mark and Holly Morgan ... his father, Mark, is a graduate of LCU and is a retired orthopedic consultant ... while at LCU, he played baseball under then-head coach Larry Hays ... his mother, Holly, is a manager for AT&T and is a graduate of Western New Mexico University...has one older brother, Chad ... his brother Chad is also an LCU Baseball letterwinner ... his uncle Steve Brothers played football at Baylor and went on to a professional career with the Green Bay Packers ... majoring in history.
