2008 SEASON
Made nine starts and was the Friday starter in the weekend rotation before it was discovered he had a torn ligament in his right elbow and was forced to undergo Tommy John Surgery ... compiled a 7.60 ERA and a 1-4 record in 45 innings of work ... logged a season high 6 2/3 innings against Missouri on March 29 in a no-decision ... only win was against Northern Illinois on March 8 as he pitched 5 2/3 innings allowing five runs on five hits and struck out eight.

2007 SEASON
Finished the season as Tech's top hurler as he ended the year with an 8-5 record and a 4.70 ERA ... logged a team-high 88 innings of work ... tallied 83 strikeouts and issued just 35 walks ... pitched three perfect innings of relief in the season opener against Stephen F. Austin on Feb. 3 ... struck out four batters ... earned the Midwest Regional Performance of the Week by Insidepitching.com on Feb. 19 following a career outing against Dallas Baptist (2/16) ... tossed eight shutout innings against the Patriots and fanned a career-best nine hitters to earn his second win of the season ... faced just three batters over the minimum and allowed only three hits and one walk ... followed up his performance against Dallas Baptist with another solid outing against Northern Illinois on Feb. 23 ... pitched seven innings allowing four runs on eight hits and struck out eight ... set a new career-high with 10 strikeouts against Cal State Northridge on March 2 ... pitched seven shutout innings and held the Matadors to just three hits ... was part of Tech's first shutout since March 2006 (UNLV) ... improved to 5-1 on the season despite a shaky start against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the opening game of the Whataburger College Classic ... logged six innings of work, allowing two runs on four hits and struck out eight ... made a rare two starts in the Big 12 weekend series at Kansas State ... pitched the first inning of the Friday night opener before the game was suspended ... the game was resumed after the orginally scheduled game on Saturday (due to television) ... made the start in the first game on Saturday and logged 4 2/3 innings ... logged seven innings of work against Texas A&M on April 6 and led Tech to a series split with the Aggies ... allowed just two runs on nine hits and struck out seven to improve to 7-1 on the season ... enjoyed a career night in the series opener against Kansas on April 20 ... fired his first career complete game - a 1-0 shutout of the Jayhawks ... held KU to just three hits on the night and became the first Red Raider since Brian Wyatt (March 19, 2005 vs. Texas A&M) to pitch a complete game shutout.

2006
Completed his freshman campaign with a 2-2 overall record and an ERA of 5.53 ... made 18 total appearances including eight starts ... 37 strikeouts, 27 walks, opponents hit .272 ... earned a no-decision in his first career start against Campbell on March 4 ... his first start came just two days after pitching two innings of relief in the first game of the series against the Camels ... logged a career-high seven innings of work in his second start of the year in the Saturday game against UNC Asheville ... secured his place in school history on March 17 against Texas when he became the first true freshman pitcher to start a Big 12 Conference game ... the last true freshman pitcher who started a game was Monty Ward back in 1996 when he earned the nod against Texas A&M on March 30 ... Ramos pitched five innings against the Longhorns allowing three runs on five hits and finished with a no-decision ... picked up his first career win against the Baylor Bears in the series finale on April 2 ... made his longest outing as a starter as he went five innings allowing one run on four hits and struck out a season-high four hitters.

A 2005 graduate of Estacado High School in Lubbock ... was a four-year letterman for the Matadors and was coached by Hector Limon, Mark Llanas, Ronie Perez, Henry Anderson and Ruben Bustillos ... was the 2005 Texas Sports Writers Association Class 4A Player of the Year ... 2005 Lubbock Avalanche-Journal Co-MVP ... District 4-4A MVP ... a four-time All-District selection as well as a three-time All-City and All-South Plains honoree ... named the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal Pitcher of the Year in 2004 ... earned All-State honors both his junior and senior seasons ... his senior season he finished with a 15-2 record with one save ... totaled a 1.16 ERA and held opponents to a .078 batting average ... in 97 innings of work he managed to strike out 190 batters for an average of 14.6 strikeouts per seven innings ... tossed nine complete games ... originally signed with New Mexico Junior College but signed a letter of intent with Texas Tech late in the spring of 2005.
