High School: A 1999 graduate of Eastern Hills High School in Fort Worth, Texas where he played baseball for Derek Matlock and football for Don Morland … went 9-1 with 2.14 ERA and 108 strikeouts and hit .349 with five home runs as a senior … selected a TPX All American pitcher after his senior season … led senior squad to 28-7 record and regional berth … named All District four consecutive years and was selected Newcomer of the Year as a freshman in 1996 … helped lead 1996 team to district title and 24-8 record … helped lead 1997 team to 25-8 record and 1996 district title.

Amateur Experience: Played in Connie Mack state tournament and was named an all tournament pitcher … went 9-2 with 97 strikeouts and hit .378 in Connie Mack league play.
