HOUSTON, Texas - Louisiana-Lafayette scored two runs with two outs in the bottom of the eighth to take a 4-3 win over the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Saturday morning at the Astros College Classic at Enron Field in Houston.

The Red Raiders (6-2) came out of the gates quickly piling up five hits and two runs in the first three innings. Tech got an equally impressive start from Steve Gooch who retired the first 12 batters of the game.

Bryan Sneed led off the fifth inning for Louisiana-Lafayette with a double to left field that was lost in the early morning sun by Tech left fielder Jon Slack. Sneed was brought home on an RBI groundout by Lloyd Ellis to bring the score to 2-1.

The second inning was déjà vu as again the leadoff hitter for the Ragin Cajuns led off the inning with a double to left that was lost in the son by Slack. Louisiana-Lafayette tied the game when right fielder Kevin Preau hit a single that went just past Nick Blankenship and was fumbled by second baseman Joel Buchenauer.

The Cajuns rallied with two outs in the bottom of the eighth when Justin Bourque hit a bunt single and Bryan Sneed reached on a right field hit to put runners at first and second. Robert Shelton doubled off of Tech reliever Brandon Shaw and Sneed scored on a passed by catcher Willie Durazo.

Texas Tech shortstop Gera Alavrez got Tech within one in the top of the ninth when he hit a solo home run over the left field wall to bring the score to 4-3. Tyler Carson ended Tech's home of a comeback when he struckout to end the game.

Texas Tech will complete tournament play in the Astros College Classic with a 12:30 game against No. 11 Rice on Saturday at Enron Field.
