Today's game against Tulane marked the first-ever meeting between the two schools on the baseball diamond.
In a pre-game ceremony, Texas Tech and the Red Cross made an official presentation for the "Teammates For Red Cross" Program in which money pledged on Tech home runs will benefit Tulane University students. The Tulane Baseball program also presented the Red Raiders with a special banner that offered their thanks for hosting the team during the fall semester.
Redshirt freshman Miles Morgan set a new career-high for strikeouts when he logged nine against the Green Wave over 6 1/3 innings of work. Morgan struckout seven batters last weekend Saturday against Louisiana-Monroe.
Junior designated hitter Tyler Reves picked up his second home run of the season when he launched a three-run dinger in the fifth. The home run was also Reves' first hit in seven at-bats.
Senior third baseman Joey Callender led both teams at the plate today as he went 4-for-5 with two runs scored. The multiple-hit game was his second of the season and 26th of his two-year career.
Senior center fielder Brian Capps picked up his fourth multiple-hit game (2-of-3) of the season and the 17th of his career.
