Texas Tech is now riding a win streak for the first time since May 10-14, 2006 when Tech won four straight games against New Mexico (single game) and Missouri (weekend series). Coming into today, the Red Raiders
Sophomore right fielder Roger Kieschnick picked up his second career grand slam today in the bottom of the fifth inning. Kieschnick's last slam came in his Red Raider debut back on Feb. 3, 2006 against Louisiana-Monroe. His four RBI in the game gives him his first multiple-RBI game of the season and the 12th of his career.
Junior left fielder Geoff Byrns has hit safely in all six of Tech's games this season. Freshman Taylor Ashby is close behind with a five-game hit streak.
The Red Raiders now lead the all-time series against Western Illinois 3-1.
Senior left-hander Aaron Odom logged six innings today for just the fourth time in his career. His last outing of six-plus innings was against Missouri on May 13th of last season when he logged 7 2/3 innings against the Tigers in a no-decision. His last win came against Arizona State back on April 17, 2006.
