Texas Tech baseball sweeps West Texas A&M with 19-4 Sunday victory
LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech baseball team completed a three-game sweep of West Texas A&M with a 19-6 victory Sunday at Texas Tech's Dan Law Field. The victory improves Texas Tech to 3-1 on the season and drops West Texas A&M to 0-3. The Red Raiders are next in action on Tuesday and Wednesday when they play a two-game series against TCU in Fort Worth. Texas Tech got on top early with a 3-run first inning and went up 9-1 with a 4-run sixth inning. The Red Raiders finished off the Buffaloes with a 7-run eighth inning. Offensive highlights for Texas Tech were many. Keith Ginter went 3-4 with 6 RBI and two runs scored, Jason Landreth finished 3-3, Junior Rodriguez hit his third home run in the first four games and finished 3-5, Josh Bard went 3-4 with two runs scored, Miles Durham went 2-5 with two runs scored, Kevin Jordan went 1-3 with 2 RBI and Jose Alvarez drove home 2 RBI on a single. Starter Shane Wright (1-0) earned the victory on the mound after pitching 6.0 innings, striking out seven and allowing only one run on four hits. West Texas A&M's Britt Cornwell (0-1) took the loss.
