Texas Tech wrapped up its third consecutive sweep of the Midland College Classic as the Red Raiders are now 9-0 in the annual tournament. Texas Tech is 10-0 all-time at Citibank Ballpark dating back to its first appearance here in 2004 (a 12-11 win over Houston on March 23, 2004).
Texas Tech is riding a six-game win streak for the first time since the 2006 season when the Red Raiders won six-straight between Feb. 14 and Feb. 25.
Junior Geoff Byrns has hit safely in all 10 of Tech's games this season and has compiled a team-high seven multiple-hit games. Byrns finished the afternoon 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored.
Junior Doug Thennis compiled a stellar week for the Red Raiders as he helped lead Tech to a 4-0 record with wins over Western Illinois, Dallas Baptist and St John's. Thennis finished the week with a .500 average (7-of-14) along with three doubles, two home runs, 10 RBI, two walks, two sacrifice hits and a 1.143 slugging percentage.
