Box Score

Right-hander Kevin Tracey turned in a solid performance for the Texas Tech baseball team, but it wasn't enough as the Red Raiders were shutout on Saturday afternoon at Blair Field, 3-0. Tech dropped their third straight game and stayed winless in three road games this year. The Red Raiders are now 6-5 while Long Beach State improved their record to 5-3.

Tracey, a senior, turned in his best performance of the season, allowing just three runs (two earned) on six hits, a walk and eight strikeouts over 8.0 innings. In his previous two starts, he had allowed nine runs on 16 hits in 5.2 innings pitched. The right-hander allowed just one extra-base hit and retired the last seven straight batters.

Long Beach State starter Matt Paz held the Red Raiders scoreless on five hits and four walks, but Tech had opportunities to score throughout the game. They left eight runners on base including the bases loaded in the third inning.

The finale of the three-game set will be Sunday afternoon at 1:05 PDT (3:05 CDT). The Red Raiders will wrap up the road trip on Tuesday at New Mexico. Texas Tech will open up Big 12 play next weekend as they host Missouri at Dan Law Field.
