Senior right-handed pitcher Miles Morgan returned to the mound this afternoon for the first time in over two years. His last appearance came against Stephen F. Austin back on Feb. 4, 2007. Today's win is his first since May 12, 2006 against Missouri. In that game against the Tigers, he logged 7 2/3 innings and held Missouri to just one run and struckout five.
Morgan's 11 strikeouts is tied for the third-most in his career as he also struckout 11 against Baylor on March 31, 2006. His career-high is 15 set against Texas in 2006.
Senior RHP Cory Large earned his first career save by logging the final three frames.
Junior right fielder Taylor Ashby tied his career-high of four RBIs as he went 3-for-4 at the plate with a walk and a double. His only other four-RBI game was last season against New Mexico (4/8/08).
Texas Tech improved to 3-0 on the year and that marks it first 3-0 start since the 2006 season.
