LUBBOCK, Texas - TCU scored seven runs in the top of the second inning and Clayton Jerome allowed just three hits in 6 2/3 innings as the Horned Frogs cruised to an 8-5 win over Texas Tech on Saturday afternoon at Dan Law Field.

The win gives TCU (6-5) the series win snapping Tech's 87 consecutive home non-conference series wins that dates back to 1989. Hardin Simmons was the last non-conference team to win a series at Dan Law Field as they swept a doubleheader back on April 18, 1989.

TCU took control of the game early as the Horned Frogs scored seven runs in the top of the second inning. The Frogs picked up six hits and took advantage of two Tech fielding errors that led to six unearned runs in the inning.

Texas Tech (7-4) began chipping away at the seven run deficit by scoring single runs in the fourth and fifth innings. TCU, however, put the game further out of reach in the top of the sixth when German Duran led off the inning with a solo home run over the left field wall.

Texas Tech cut the TCU lead to four after scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh. Junior shortstop Cameron Blair picked up an RBI single and second baseman Jose Delgado plated the final run of the inning with an RBI groundout.

The Red Raiders added a single run in the ninth thanks to an RBI double by Blair but TCU reliever Chad Underwood retired the final two batters to end the game.

Texas Tech will try to salvage the final game of the series on Sunday afternoon. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
