Red Raiders Pound TCU 19-9

LUBBOCK, Texas - Junior shortstop Cameron Blair with 3-for-5 with five RBI while the Tech offense hit six home runs to lead the Red Raiders to a 19-9 win over the TCU Horned Frogs on Sunday afternoon at Dan Law Field. The win improves Texas Tech to 8-4 on the season while TCU falls to 6-6. Texas Tech leadoff hitter Cameron Blair got the Red Raiders rolling in his first at-bat as he launched a solo homer over the left field wall. The home run jump-started a three-run inning for Tech as second baseman Jose Delgado singled in the next at-bat and right fielder Michael Mask capped off the frame with a two-run shot over the left field wall. Tech put up a single run in the bottom of the second on an RBI single from Blair that scored catcher Jacob Jones. Jones reached on a bunt single to set up the scoring opportunity. TCU pulled within one in the top of the third as the Frogs put up three runs in the inning on a three-run home run from Shelby Ford. The Red Raiders extended their lead to 6-3 in the bottom of the third on an RBI single from Josh Haney and an RBI triple from Ryan Andrews. TCU took its first lead of the game in the top of the fourth as the Frogs scored five runs in the inning on five total hits. J.J. Estrada hit a solo home run in the inning and Shelby Ford hit his second home run of the game, a three-run blast to left center field. Texas Tech blew the game open in the bottom of the fifth as the Tech offense exploded for eight runs on five hits, including home runs from Josh Haney and Michael Mask. Cameron Blair notched a three-run double in the inning and finished with a game-high five RBI. In the sixth, junior outfielders Ryan Andrews and Cody Fuller picked up their first home runs of the season as both hit solo jobs to left. Junior right-hander John Milton (1-0) picked up the win for the Red Raiders as he tossed 4 1/3 innings of relief allowing five hits and one earned run. Zach Duncan (0-1) suffered the loss for TCU as he gave up three earned runs and two walks in just a 1/3 of an inning.
Texas Tech will have the week off before hosting four games over the weekend at Dan Law Field. Texas Tech will take on Air Force at 3 p.m. on Friday and will then play the nightcap against Harvard beginning at approximately 6:30 p.m. Texas Tech will then play Harvard at 2 p.m. on Saturday and Air Force at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Air Force and Harvard will play single games at 11 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Tickets will be good for both games on each of the three days.
