COLLEGE STATION, Texas - No. 17 Texas A&M scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to capture a 4-1 win over No. 22 Texas Tech on Sunday afternoon completing a three-game sweep of the Red Raiders.

With the loss, Texas Tech falls to 13-7 overall and 0-3 in the Big 12 while Texas A&M improves to 13-4 overall and 3-0 in the league.

Texas A&M scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the third when Cody Mavroulis hit a two-out double down the first base line scoring Eric Reed from second.

Senior catcher Willie Durazo tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the seventh when he hit a solo home run over the right field wall giving him his fourth home run of the season.

The Aggies took the game over in the bottom of the eighth on a right-center field double by Neal Stephenson that plated Matt Alexander and Travis Wong giving the Aggies a 3-1 lead. Stephenson was able to reach third on the play after center fielder Jon Slack misplayed the ball. Tech reliever Chad Ertel, who replaced Steve Gooch after the double in the eighth, gave up the next run on a wild pitch as Stephenson came home on a ball that bounced in the dirt and went sailing toward the backstop.

Junior Steve Gooch suffered his first defeat of the season despite tossing a season-high eight innings with eight strikeouts and issuing just one walk. Matt Farnum (3-1) got the win in relief for A&M giving him his second straight win over Texas Tech in as many games.

Texas Tech returns home for a seven-game home stand on Tuesday night when they face TCU at 7 p.m. at Dan Law Field. Tech will wrap up its season long series with TCU on Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m.
