LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech baseball team gave head coach Larry Hays his 1,250th career victory in a 7-2 win over the Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds before 2,410 fans at Dan Law Field.

Texas Tech (15-10) was led by junior centerfielder Tyler Carson who went 2 for 4 at the plate. The Red Raiders managed just five hits on the night thanks impart to a strong infield wind that kept the Tech bats from heating up. Senior right-handed pitcher Matt Harbin (1-0) earned his first win of the season after pitching 7.0 innings giving up two runs, three hits and three strikeouts. Gabe DeHoyos took the loss for the Greyhounds and fell to 3-3 on the year.

Texas Tech returns to the diamond tomorrow morning for a brunch date with Valley City State. The game is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
