Today's 9-8 win over Nebraska gave Texas Tech the series 2-1 and marks Tech's first series win over the Huskers since taking 2-of-3 in Lincoln back in 2004. It also marks Tech's first series win over a ranked opponent since taking 2-of-3 last season at home against then 24th-ranked Baylor.
Coming into the series, Nebraska had won five straight against the Red Raiders. The Huskers still maintain the lead in the all-time series (22-19) but Tech now has an 11-10 edge in games played at Dan Law Field.
The walk-off home run by Doug Thennis is his second game winning walk-off hit for the Red Raiders season. In the season opener back on Feb. 3 against Stephen F. Austin, he laced an RBI single in the bottom of the 11th that gave Tech a 4-3 win over the Lumberjacks. The home run was his fourth of the season and his first since the game against St. John's on Feb. 17.
Texas Tech will be auctioning Thennis' green hat worn in today's game against the 16th-ranked Huskers. Details on the auction will be announced on Monday.
Today's crowd of 2,473 was a season-high for the Red Raiders.
