Recap |  Final Stats

  • Texas Tech falls to 8-10 on the season and to 0-1 in Big 12 Conference play.

  • With tonight's loss, Texas Tech falls to 4-10 in Big 12 Conference opening games.

  • Tonight's game against Texas A&M was the 144th all-time meeting between the two clubs and the 69th meeting in College Station. With the win, Texas A&M extends its series lead to 89-55 and to 53-16 in games played in College Station.

  • Tonight's loss gives Texas Tech a six-game losing skid and that streak matches one by the Red Raiders early last season. Tech lost six consecutive games between Feb. 25 and March 6, 2009, in an eight-game road swing through California.

  • Texas Tech struckout a season-high 15 times tonight surpassing the previous mark of 12 set two weeks ago against the Houston Cougars at the Houston College Classic at Minute Maid Park.

  • Texas Tech scored in the first inning tonight and has now done so 13 different times this year.

  • An Aggie starting pitcher has now struckout 10 Tech batters in back-to-back years as Alex Wilson struckout 10 Red Raiders in a 13-7 win over Tech at Dan Law Field on April 4, 2009.

  • Texas Tech had three errors on the night and that marks the sixth time in the last eight games that the Red Raider defense has committed multiple errors.

  • Senior shortstop Joey Kenworthy hit his second home run of the season in the first inning. The home run was the sixth of his career and his second here at Olsen Field.

  • Senior center fielder Taylor Ashby returned to the lineup after missing the two previous games with soreness in his back. Ashby singled in his first at-bat of the game in the second inning and that single moved him into a tie for eighth place with Cody Fuller (2002-05) on the school's career hit list. Ashby now has 194 career hits in four years and can occupy sole possession of eighth with a base hit on Saturday.

  • Texas Tech relievers Brett Bruening, Ben Flora, Brennan Stewart and Scott Erziger combined for two runs (both were unearned) and only allowed five hits.
