Senior shortstop Kyle Martin became the first Tech player this season to lead off a game with a home run. Martin's leadoff home run (ninth dinger of the season) was his second in as many days as his fourth inning blast on Friday turned out to be the only run of the night for the Red Raiders. Martin now has six home runs in his career against Baylor and has homered in five straight games against the Bears.
Sophomore right-hander AJ Ramos has hit at least two batters in each of his last three outings.
Junior Jason Seefeld made his first start of the season tonight at second base. He collected his first hit of the season (two previous at-bats) in the fourth to tie the game at 2-2.
Sophomore Roger Kieschnick snapped a 10-game streak in which he hadn't got a single RBI. He picked up two RBIs in the top of the eighth with a single through the right side.
Texas Tech snapped Baylor's 27-game win streak when leading after eight innings.
Texas Tech is now 3-0 in extra innings this season, including 2-0 in Big 12 games.
