Baseball Defeats Eastern New Mexico 6-5 in 13 Innings|

LUBBOCK, Texas - Keith Ginter's 13th inning bases loaded single broke a 5-5 tie and gave Texas Tech a 6-5 victory Tuesday against Eastern New Mexico at Dan Law Field. The win improves Texas Tech to 20-10 on the season and drops Eastern New Mexico to 15-17. Next up for the Red Raiders is a three game series at Oklahoma State this weekend. Friday's game is at 7 p.m.
Texas Tech loaded the bases in the 13th inning as Brandon Buckley singled, Jason Huth walked and Ryan Ruiz got on with a bunt single for Ginter. Ginter sent the first pitch up the middle past the shortstop to drive in the winning run.
Ginter finished 4-6 on the evening with the game winning RBI and two runs scored. Mark Austry finished the evening with a 3-5 performance, Brennan Burns went 2-4 with an RBI and run scored, Kevin Jordan went 3-6 with a run scored Ryan Ruiz went 3-6 and Jason Landreth went 1-6 with two RBI.
On the mound, Texas Tech was anchored by the performances of junior Cade Allison and sophomore Steve Watkins. Allison pitched 7.0 inning of relief and allowed six hits and one run (one earned) in his time. He also struck out seven batters. Steve Watkins (2-0) pitched the final 3 2/3 innings for his second victory of the season. He struck out five batters, walked one and allowed no hits and no runs in his innings.
Texas Tech kept its streak of 30 wins against non NCAA Division I teams in tact. The 13 inning game also tied the second longest in Texas Tech history. Tech played a 17-inning game vs. SE Oklahoma State in 1968, the longest game in school history.
