Box Score

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M's Zach Jackson struckout 14 batters in a complete game and the Aggies scored two runs in the fourth and one in the eighth to defeat Texas Tech 4-1 in the second game of a three-game series on Saturday night at Olsen Field. The win clinches the series for Texas A&M as the Aggies won 5-2 on Friday night.

Texas A&M freshman third baseman Austin Boggs put the Aggies in the lead in the bottom of the first when he cranked a solo home run over the left-center field wall.

Texas Tech (16-9; 0-2) had the bases loaded with just one out in the top of the third but could not convert a run as Michael Mask and Josh Brady recorded back-to-back strikeouts to end the inning. A&M hurler Zach Jackson picked up four strikeouts in the inning as he retired Edwards swinging but he took first on passed ball by catcher Craig Stinson.

The Aggies pushed their lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the fourth as right fielder Cory Patton led off with a double to right center and Coby Mavroulis plated him with a single to the same spot in the field. Andrew Baldwin plated Mavroulis with a sacrifice fly to right field.

The Red Raiders finally got on the board in the top of the sixth when Cody Fuller hit a sacrifice fly to center field allowing Jose Delgado to score from third. Delgado led off the inning with an infield single.

Steven Thomas (2-3) suffered the loss for Texas Tech despite a solid performance from the hill as he allowed four runs on seven hits through 7 1/3 innings. Zach Jackson improved to 6-1 on the year as he held Tech to just three hits and one earned run while striking out 14.

Texas Tech will try to win the final game of the three-game series on Sunday afternoon as the Red Raiders and Aggies will throw out the first pitch at 1 p.m. from Olsen Field.
