NORMAN, Okla. - Texas Tech freshman Andre Wheeler went 3-for-4 and Barrett Barnes improved his hit streak to 14 games with a solo homer in the Red Raiders 11-1 loss at No. 7 Oklahoma on Saturday night at L. Dale Mitchell Park.

The Red Raiders (17-10, 4-4 BIG 12) had only four players with a base hit while the Sooners (21-6, 4-3 BIG 12) scored three or more runs in three separate innings to secure the series victory over Tech.

Texas Tech freshman Trey Masek (1-2) took the loss allowing seven runs - all earned - on eight hits with two strikeouts and two walks in 2.1 innings. Oklahoma freshman Dillon Overton (4-2) earned the win pitching 2.1 innings out of the bullpen with two strikeouts.

Oklahoma didn't waste time jumping out to a 4-0 lead after one inning of play. The Sooners then scored three in the third and three in the fourth inning to increase its lead to 10 runs, 10-0.

The Red Raider bats were held in check as Oklahoma allowed Tech to record multiple hits (two, twice) in only two innings.

Texas Tech left eight runners on base, including six in scoring position.

The Red Raiders scored their only run on sophomore Barrett Barnes' team-leading fourth home run of the season, a towering solo shot over the left-field wall in the eighth inning.

Wheeler led all players with three base hits while Kelby Tomlinson (1-for-4, 2B, SB) and David Paiz (1-for-2) also recorded base hits for Tech. In addition, sophomore Jamodrick McGruder reached base with a walk in the third to extend his streak of reaching base safely to 31 games dating back to last year.

Texas Tech and Oklahoma will conclude their three-game Big 12 series on Sunday with a 1 p.m. first-pitch at L. Dale Mitchell Park in Norman.
