LUBBOCK, Texas - Shane Wright pitched a complete game nine innings for the victory and outfielder Miles Durham drove in five RBI on a 2-5 hitting performance to lead Texas Tech to an 8-6 victory Friday evening at Dan Law Field. The victory improved Texas Tech to 7-5 in Big 12 Conference play and 24-11 overall while Missouri fell to 6-3 in conference play and 21-7 overall. Game two of the three game series is tomorrow starting at 2 p.m. at Dan Law Field.
With Tech leading 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning, Durham helped give the Red Raiders a 6-1 lead on a 425-foot three-run home run over the centerfield wall. He helped the Red Raiders extend that lead in the fifth inning as his two-run double put Tech up 8-1. Durham finished the game 2-5 with five RBI, a double and a home run.
Wright (7-1) avoided the big inning all evening as the junior pitched 9.0 innings and allowed nine hits and six runs (five earned). He walked one batter and struck out seven.
Other key Red Raider contributions came from Kieth Ginter, who went 2-4 with an RBI and two run scored, Brandon Buckley who went 2-4 with a run scored, Jason Landreth who scored two runs and went 1-3 and Jason Huth who went 2-4 with a run scored.
