LUBBOCK, Texas - Junior right fielder Michael Mask went 4-for-6 with a grand slam and seven RBI to help lead the Texas Tech Red Raiders to a 17-5 win over Howard Payne on Wednesday afternoon at Dan Law Field.

The Red Raiders (18-11) stormed out to a 10-0 lead over the first two inning that included a grand slam by Mask that highlighted a five run first inning.

Howard Payne scored its only runs of the game in the top of the third as they picked up four hits and five runs off of Tech reliever Tanner McElroy. Tech committed both its errors in the inning and that led to two unearned runs.

Josh Haney went 5-for-5 at the plate and was a home run short of the cycle. Cameron Blair helped round out Tech's 24-hit attack as he was 3-for-5 with two RBI.

Texas Tech used nine different pitchers in the game and Barrett Pliler was given the win and moved to 2-1 on the year. Gilbert Arispe (1-4) suffered the loss as he gave up 10 earned runs on 14 hits in two innings of work.

Texas Tech returns to action on Friday as they travel to Nebraska to take on the 12th-ranked Huskers at 6:35 p.m.
