LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech blasted a season high 26 hits in winning a 19-10 decision Wednesday against New Mexico Highlands University at Dan Law Field. The victory improves Texas Tech to 27-12 on the season and drops New Mexico Highlands to 16-18 overall.
Two Red Raiders nailed five hits apiece. Kevin Jordan continued his hot streak after going 5-6 with a home run, two doubles, seven RBI and four runs scored. In his last two games for the week, Jordan is 10-12 with four home runs, eight runs scored and 14 RBI. Mark Austry also belted a home run after going 5-6 with three RBI and three runs scored.
The offense wasn't limited to those two players. Brennan Burns went 3-3 with two runs scored, Keith Ginter went 2-4 with three runs scored and an RBI, Ryan Ruiz went 3-5 with three runs scored and two RBI, Josh Bard went 2-6 wth two RBI and Miles Durham finished 3-5 with two RBI.
Texas Tech starter Zach Stewart went 5.0 innings for the victory. Reliever Peter Nelson, in his first stint as a Tech pitcher, earned the save after pitching 4.0 innings. He allowed six hits and one earned run.
