Box Score

LINCOLN, Neb. - Senior reliever Corey Gerstner pitched six innings of relief and first baseman Josh Brady tallied five RBI to lead Texas Tech to a 10-3 win over No. 12 Nebraska in front of an Easter Sunday crowd of 2,817 fans at Hawks Field. The win gives Texas Tech the series 2-1 and is Nebraska's first home Big 12 series lost since the 2001 season.

The Cornhuskers (24-7; 6-3) struck for two runs early for the third game in a row as Nebraska went up 2-0 in the bottom of the second on a two-RBI single from Jesse Boyer.

The Red Raiders (20-12; 3-5) took control of the ballgame in the top of the fourth inning as the Red Raiders exploded for five runs with two outs in the inning. Junior second baseman Jose Delgado picked up an RBI single while fellow infielder Cameron Blair and Josh Brady followed with two-RBI singles.

In the top of the sixth, Blair reached on a single to left and Dallas Braden got onboard by virtue of a drag bunt. Braden's bunt single help set up Brady's 11th home run of the season as he belted a three-run job to the deepest part of the ballpark in centerfield. The three-run home run was his seventh multiple-run dinger of the year.

Texas Tech tacked on two more runs in the top of the eighth to push the score to 10-2. Jose Delgado picked up an RBI triple, his fourth of the year, to score Josh Haney while Madison Edwards plated Delgado with an RBI double.

The Huskers finally chased away Tech reliever Corey Gerstner in the bottom of the eighth but not before he had dealt five strikeouts in a career-high six innings of work. Designated hitter Braden Keith led off the frame with a double to right field and Boyer scored him with a single to left. Adam Fry, who earned a save in yesterday's 10-7 win, retired four of the final five batters to end the game.

Corey Gerstner logged the win in relief for Texas Tech today as he pitched a career-high six innings of relief and allowed just one earned run on seven hits. Tech starter Michael McGowan was chased away after just 1 1/3 innings as he allowed two earned runs on four hits and walked two.

Cody Fuller, Madison Edwards and Cameron Blair each logged three hits in the game for Texas Tech while Josh Brady went 2-for-5 with five RBI and a run scored.

Justin Pekarek dropped his first decision of the season as he fell to 4-1 after allowing five unearned runs on seven hits in 3 2/3 innings. The Huskers used a total of five different pitchers in the game with none logging more than 1 2/3 innings.

Boyer paced the Nebraska offense as he went 3-for-4 with three RBI.

Texas Tech returns to action on Tuesday night as they play host to the West Texas A&M Buffaloes at Dan Law Field. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
