LUBBOCK, Texas - No. 24 Kansas used a seven-run first inning to salvage the series finale as the Jayhawks posted a 15-6 win over the Red Raiders in front of 2,503 fans at Dan Law Field on Sunday afternoon.

The loss drops Tech back to even in the Big 12 Conference as they stand at 9-9 in league play and 18-24 overall. Today's loss pushes the Red Raiders back into seventh place in the league standings after starting today in fifth. Kansas improves to 25-14 overall and to 8-7 in the league.

Tech senior right-hander Miles Morgan was never able to find the zone in the first inning as he allowed seven runs (five earned) on three walks and two hits and was pulled from the game without recording an out. The seven runs marked a season-high for runs allowed in an inning during a Big 12 Conference game.

The Jayhawks built a 10-0 lead with two runs in the third and one in the fourth before the Red Raiders were finally able to get on the board in the fifth. Tech got the bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth and Chris Richburg drove in the only run with a sacrifice fly to right.

Kansas was just three outs away from a 10-run rule in the seventh but the Red Raiders were able to plate five runs in the inning to extend the game.

With the loss, Morgan falls to 2-5 on the season and to 0-2 in his career against the Jayhawks. Lee Ridenhour (4-2) earned the win for Kansas as he allowed just one run on eight hits over six innings of work.

Texas Tech will wrap up its five-game homestand with a two-game midweek series against the UNLV Rebels on Tuesday and Wednesday. First pitch on Tuesday night is set for 7 p.m.
