Texas Tech Salvages Final Game Of Series, Drops KSU 8-1

LUBBOCK, Texas. - Senior Dusty Buck pitched eight solid innings and struckout a career-high eight batters to lead Texas Tech to an 8-1 win over Kansas State on Sunday afternoon.
Texas Tech (24-18; 6-11) scored the first run of the game in the top of the
fourth when T.J. Bruce laced an RBI single through the right side to score
Madison Edwards who led off the inning with a walk. A fielding error by
Kansas State second baseman Marc Chabot allowed Cody Fuller to reach safely
and T.J. Bruce to score from second. Evan Shahak, making his first appearance
in over a month, hit a bases loaded two-RBI single to give the Red Raiders a
4-0 lead.
T.J. Bruce pushed Tech's lead to 5-0 with an RBI sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth that scored Madison Edwards. Edwards led off the inning with a walk. Scooter Jordan led off the top of the sixth with a double to left-center field gap and later scored on balk by KSU reliever Brett Bagley to push the Red Raider lead to 6-0. Kansas State's Tim Doty broke up the 8-0 shutout with a two-out single in the bottom of the eighth that scored Marc Chabot who doubled. Dusty Buck (3-1) earned the win for Texas Tech after pitching eight innings with eight strikeouts. Sean Clancy fell to 1-4 as he was tagged with the loss for Kansas State. Texas Tech will begin a four-game homestand on Tuesday as the Red Raiders host Howard Payne at 5 p.m. Texas Tech will then host Big 12 leader Nebraska in a three-game series over the weekend. |
