LUBBOCK, Texas - Chad Bettis' school record tying 14th career save put the finishing touch on a four-hit combined shutout by Brennan Stewart and Colt Farrar as Texas Tech earned a two-game sweep of Alabama A&M with 3-0 victory on Wednesday afternoon at Dan Law Field.

The win gives the Red Raiders a four-game win streak heading into this weekend's series at Kansas as Tech now stands at 22-19. The loss extends Alabama A&M's losing skid to eight games and the Bulldogs are now 15-25.

The game was a pitching dual for the better part of six innings as Alabama A&M starter Chris Hernandez tossed five shutout frames and Tech starter Brennan Stewart countered with four of his own.

With two outs in the bottom of the sixth, the Red Raiders finally got the clutch hit they had been searching for all afternoon. Junior third baseman Nick Popescu drove in two runs with a single to left and that gave Tech a 2-0 advantage. Prior to Popescu's at-bat in the sixth inning, Tech had stranded six runners in scoring position.

Popescu drove in his third and final run of the game with a single in the bottom of the eighth to give Tech a 3-0 lead.

Colt Farrar earned the win in relief as he tossed four shutout innings to improve to 2-1 on the year. Junior right-hander Chad Bettis retired the final Bulldog hitter in the top of the ninth to pick up his seventh save of the year and the 14th of his career.

Texas Tech returns to Big 12 action on Friday evening as the Red Raiders open up a three-game series at Kansas. First pitch at Hoglund Ballpark is set for 7 p.m.
